Application
Aluminone (ammonium salt of aurintricarboxylic acid)

MAIN APPLICATION:
- in a slightly acidic environment (pH 4-5) forms a red complex with Al
- when heated → purple-red flaky sediment
- color reaction becomes more noticeable
!!!IMPORTANT!!!
* Also reacts with Be(II) and Fe(III) - INTERFERING with the determination of Al
* Requires confirmation by other methods (atomic -absorption spectrophotometry)
* Store in a cool place in a tightly closed container
* Keep away from strong oxidizing agents!!!
SOLUBILITY: good in water (~800 g/l)

LABORATORY APPLICATION:
1. Take a sample with Al
2. Add reagent at pH 4-5
3. Heat slightly
4. Observe red color/precipitate
